In the lead up to the General Election 2011, smaller parties have been excluded from the Leaders Debates, being broadcast on national television. The Green Party Aotearoa has set up the Green Room on Facebook to provide their Fans with an alternative to the main party debate
Catalyst90 provided the Green Party with a technical solution by live-streaming an ‘alternative debate’ at the same time as the Leaders Debate aired on television. The alternative debate was live-streamed directly into the Green Room page on Facebook. Key Green Party members took part and had the opportunity to debate major issues in front of the Facebook audience.
More than 7,000 viewers have watched the debate in the Green Room, providing a real voice for the Green Party in the lead up to the election.
